I am Idario Santos, married to my wonderful Soraya Carvalho; we have two amazing kids – Vinicius and Artur. Together we are the Santos Family.
In 2004 we found doctors in the US who could provide a cure for MSUD, a rare disease that was threatening our youngest son’s life. In 2005 my family left our home in Brazil and moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Ever since, we have been living in this amazing city.
I want to help children suffering from MSUD and other Inborn Errors of Metabolism (IEM). My book, A Sweet Odyssey, tells the story of our journey. I hope reading it will inspire you to join our mission.
The book is about to be released. Please check back often to stay updated.

I am so glad to hear from you. Your English is very good. How is your family. How many kids do you have?
We had difficult time, but, right now we are trying to rebuild our family. As you know, life is not easy. I am going to publish my book (I hope) by June of this current year. I’ll need my friends help to spread it out among their friends and ask them to do the same.

My name is Brigitte Jones. I loved reading about your family and I must say that I can relate to the thought of MSUD because my niece and my nephew both have been diagnosed. They struggle everyday with this and they are only 4 and 2 years of age. Any advice that you could give?? They both currently receive disability and that took awhile to get approved. I look forward to your feedback.

Sou o pai de João Guilherme ele foi diagnosticado com esse síndrome também sendo que ele não apresenta nem uma desses sintomas,estamos aguardando o resultado do exame leucina para mais detalhes.Mas desde já ele está tomando o leite MSUD,ele tem apenas 1 mês de vida . obrigado pelo atenção..
